It is important to be ready for an emergency at any moment!
For this reason, you should create an emergency kit ahead of time and keep these supplies in a safe place that you can find easily.
Recommended Emergency Supplies Include:
- Food for 3 days that is non-perishable (dried fruit, canned goods, peanut butter)
- Can opener for canned goods
- Water – 1 gallon per person for 3 days
- First Aid Kit (ask an adult if you need to pack any medications)
- Sleeping bag and/or warm blankets for each person
- Change of clothes for 3 days and sturdy shoes
- Matches in a waterproof container (ask an adult to handle this)
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap
- Paper or plastic plates, cups, eating utensils and paper towels
- Battery-powered radio, flashlight, and extra batteries for both
- Cell phone and cell phone charger
- Whistle so you can signal for help if needed
- Local maps
- Pet supplies and food
- Baby supplies and food
- Favorite books, games, or puzzles
- Favorite stuffed animal or blanket
