Make an Emergency Kit

It is important to be ready for an emergency at any moment!

For this reason, you should create an emergency kit ahead of time and keep these supplies in a safe place that you can find easily.

Recommended Emergency Supplies Include:

  • Food for 3 days that is non-perishable (dried fruit, canned goods, peanut butter)
    • Can opener for canned goods
  • Water – 1 gallon per person for 3 days
  • First Aid Kit (ask an adult if you need to pack any medications)
  • Sleeping bag and/or warm blankets for each person
  • Change of clothes for 3 days and sturdy shoes
  • Matches in a waterproof container (ask an adult to handle this)
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap
  • Paper or plastic plates, cups, eating utensils and paper towels
  • Battery-powered radio, flashlight, and extra batteries for both
  • Cell phone and cell phone charger
  • Whistle so you can signal for help if needed
  • Local maps
  • Pet supplies and food
  • Baby supplies and food
  • Favorite books, games, or puzzles
  • Favorite stuffed animal or blanket
